Shasta Historical Society

Who We Are

The Shasta Historical Society is seeking support in the following areas:

Digitize and store materials: documents, photographs, and oral histories provide a wealth of information.

Catalog materials in the system: accurately adding materials to the web-based system allows patrons to search the holdings.

Working with library patrons and help organize and catolgue the library.

Research: assist on a variety of history and genealogy projects.

Education: in this arena, the volunteer will develop adult and student programs and handouts. Teaching experience and/or knowledge of Common Core Standards is really helpful.

Work with school fieldtrips, at family events, or help with our monthly programs and walking tours.

Help with our annual A Taste of History fundraiser and party.

The Shasta Historical Society is currently seeking volunteers to help with the tasks above. Shifts are flexible and available during museum hours, Monday through Friday, and at special events. Training is provided for all volunteers.  Thanks for your interest!

What We Do

The mission of the Shasta Historical Society is, “to collect, preserve, promote and communicate the history of Shasta County.” The Shasta Historical Society encourages and inspires the exploration of Shasta County history through programs, publications, collections, and research services. As an educational and research institution, the Shasta Historical Society teaches our shared local history. Visitors become witnesses to history and explore the dynamics of local heritage. At the Shasta Historical Society we have been striving to make Shasta County a special place to live, work and visit since 1930.
